Having a dog is so rewarding

I’m writing this while I’m sitting next to my slightly snoring beautiful dog named Gracie.  Having her has saved me in many ways.  During Covid our dog at the time was 16 years old and had a progressive cancer.  I know I wasn’t exactly in the dark of how serious it was but I also didn’t think she was going to die 6 months after being diagnosed and having major surgery.

Her name was Sydney and she was a Cairn Terrier Chihuahua.  We lost her Mom Callie in November of the year before.  Sydney was a complete joy, in actuality all of our dogs have been.  After she passed away my son Evan and I were really sad and depressed about it.

When an opportunity arose to save a rescue dog named Dixie (now Gracie) we thought we should jump on it.  Covid wasn’t going away anytime soon so we weren’t traveling anytime soon either, it was a perfect time to adopt.  After we got Gracie we had many challenges since she was a rescue found on the streets but with time and a ton of patience she has turned out to be a completely awesome addition to our family.  Having a dog to snuggle, take care of, and that loves you unconditionally is the most rewarding thing to have!
