5 things we did with our teenager during Covid

Our family was very cautious during Covid and we stayed home for the most part.  We have a 14-Year-old Son and during this time he really didn’t want to do much with his free time other than play video games.  But we did have some ideas that got him out of his room.  Here are our top 5 things that we did, and still will do going forward.

1.We made sure we ate together for lunch and dinner.  Every lunch break and some dinners we would play Uno Flip as a family.  This got us all some quality time and we feel like we made it fun.  Uno Flip is a fun twist on the standard Uno game.  If you haven’t tried Uno Flip I would highly recommend it.

2. We took a 45-minute walk everyday to get out in the sunshine and get some exercise.  We also worked out regularly with weights in our garage. (we made our own home gym)

3. We took drives to the beach.  Unfortunately, this wasn’t as much fun as it could have been since we didn’t get out of the car for fear of being around too many people.  Our approach was super stringent during Covid since I have Lupus and needed to be ultra-careful during this time.

4. We took long bike rides.  Our bike rides were epic since I’m not a good bike rider.  One time I turned around and got off kilter and ended up riding my bike on top of a very thick hedge.  It was funny because I couldn’t figure out how to get off and had to just keep going until the end of it tapered off and set me back on my path.

5. We started picking out series on Netflix to watch all together.  This was great since we all have similar likes when it comes to what we like to watch.  Our family is really into scary movies at the moment and will watch one a week.  Since it has been 11 months of this I feel like we have seen all of the scary movies that are out there.
